1966 Gibson SG Standard Pelham Blue

1966 Gibson SG Standard Pelham Blue

I flew into Chicago, Illinois to buy this amazing 1966 Gibson SG Standard in factory original Pelham Blue finish from the son of its original owner. I was stunned to find it completely original except for the screw holding the tremolo arm to the plate. I inspected the neck and body and found no neck breaks, repairs, or issues of any kind. When asked about the history of the guitar, the seller showed me the picture of his dad playing the SG with his band with awesome Kiss-like facepaint. I can tell that the guitar was played and loved; the care slightly less than "babied", but it was clearly respected and utilized as the tool it was meant to be.

Measurements: 7.4lbs (3.35 kg) total weight. The neck measures 1.60" wide at the nut, 0.88" deep at the first fret, and 1.02" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.52k ohms and the bridge pickup reads 7.67k ohms.

Dates: The serial number "900404" is an SG Standard that shipped on October 7, 1966. The potentiometer codes read "137 65xx" (137 = CTS, 65 = 1965, and XX = week of the year but covered by solder on all pots).

Originality: All finish, parts, and solder are original to this guitar except the screw mounting the tremolo arm to the plate.

Playability: Excellent! The neck is dead straight, truss rod functions as intended, and the electronics are clean and operate as intended.

Condition: Good with typical nicks, dings, and scratches throughout. There's a section of what looks like strap reaction on the back of the body. There's a large bruise on the treble side edge of the body. I observed no breaks or repairs.

Included: The original case is included with this guitar.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
